Radio stations and record companies treat pop and classical music as strictly separate market segments, a fact unheeded by countless musicians and music lovers for decades. In all sorts of ways, the musical boundaries between pop and art – between ‘high’ and ‘low’ culture – are overstepped, blurred and even obliterated. As part of the AAA Festival based on the theme ‘pop art’, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra is exploring this exciting fringe area. The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Holland Festival and pop artist Son Lux, are joining forces to take part in an adventurous encounter.
